Assessment Space

Been busy setting up the assessment space in the last push for marking been very busy in the studio tidying up and getting everything ready. I ended up using another space for the assessment but I'm pleased with the way its been turning out. My original plan was to set up all the bigger props such as the bed near all the prints on the wall. But my new space is a little smaller so been improvising.

I collected a spice rack during the project and have painted and set up it up on the wall. Cleaned all the bottles and filled them with various small parts of each photo shoot.

They are representing the different parts of the anxieties and their stages from the start of the anxiety to the collection. This is because the first bottle has blue ink inside it and the last bottle has pills inside it. And the inbetween bottles are the stages of symbolism and parts of each shoot of the journey of an anxiety disorder.

This is the new space.

These are the gradual stages of setting up the space I set up all six images, painted the spice rack whit, and painted the small table and chair white.

Began to add title of each piece which is the six disorders that were chosen for the project and statement also.

Also made labels for all my sketch books and folio case also set up props on my small table and added QR codes onto the bottom corners.

Artist statement.

As some extra work I also mounted and sorted out my extra A4 and A3 prints into a folio folder along with my smaller photo album.

It's been a long but fruitful process I feel positive about the project and that I learned a lot. Especially about improvising and making things work out when technology breaks or working with others doesn't always go to plan. But it was a great experience to work in studio environments and being able to get back into photography and using software such as Photoshop again. Also getting to work with models and becoming more confident about directing people and working with them to create pieces. It also was positive to learn about how to present and display my work in a more professional manner since I didn't have much experience of that.

Short Project Process work video

While making the project I create a short sped up video of me working on various bits and pieces of the project. Wanted to try a different way to document my work progress digitally and try a sped up video for the first time.

Some screen shots.

Been getting ready my assessment space and loading on my files to the computer the final push is here!

Development - Finished pieces framed and space issue

Over the holidays I went home for a week to have a break but still did sketchbook work at home. These were some of the images I painted in watercolor about the symbolism and meanings behind the props in the photographs. Was unsure if to give them their own separate sketchbook or not but have added them instead to the development sketchbook.

Frame Tests

Also purchased frames for my prints I picked for my final ones. Before any frames were bought I ended up doing some color tests to see which would look best since my images are varied in color and tone. Here is some simple examples in Photoshop even tho I tried this with all the final images.

I also compared them all together on the screen to see how they all worked together in a composition. It ended up being a choice between black and white.

Prints and Frames

Black seemed to be the best option so I went with that for frames and my prints finally came.

I'm very pleased with the results it does feel positive when you finally see months of work in a conclusion. They just need some dusting down and they are ready to be displayed.

I also got a small photo album to put the extra smaller prints to be looked at as well.

Space Planning

Their has been an issue on the space I had in mind for my work to be shown. I'm waiting to find out on Monday what the outcome will be. My own anxieties caused me to have a type of break down around the issue but I felt better after taking a day out of doing work. I'm sure things will work out in the end and maybe I could get a space in the studio if things didn't work out for another space. Have been planning out the space if things worked out either way but well wait and see.

Final Sketchbook Progress

In the meantime been working on a development sketchbook that details the whole process of the project. It also shows the process of all the photo shoots and how they were planned and how the props were made. As well as experimentation with camera and lighting and the meanings of the symbolism behind each shoot.

Also I have been filming bits and pieces of my projects process as well and I plan to edit them together this weekend. So I can have the final week devoted to displaying my work and getting my work on the computer in the studio.
